Wedding Event Specialist

Compensation

  • This position will include a 50k base salary plus 3.5% commission, calculated as a % of direct sales generated by the Wedding Sales Coordinator, within a designated territory

Position Summary

The Wedding Event Specialist at City Barbeque is responsible for sales development and coordination of all wedding sales events. This position contributes to City Barbeque's success by serving our catered guests at receptions and rehearsal dinners, handling wedding event inquiries, and order processing, to make those events as seamless as possible.

The Wedding Event Specialist reports to the Director, Business Development.

GOALS/INITIATIVES

  • Plans and achieves annual sales goals

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

  • Represents City Barbeque at bridal shows and industry-related events to book Catering leads
  • Conducts inquiries with potential guests on phone and live, answering questions, upselling products, and problem-solving Catering event questions
  • Handles cold-call venues and industry-related vendors to increase business referrals

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Generates response letters for guest complaints and Catering Rewards members

PROCESS IMPROVEMENT

  • Represents company by conducting in-person tastings, with a strong understanding of our Catering systems and processes
  • Maintains records and follow-up information for individual leads, client quotes and confirmed orders, venues, and bridal shows

FINANCIAL ACUMEN

  • Partners with the Director, Business Development and Catering Operations Manager to manage Catering/off-premise P&L opportunities and other financial responsibilities that are affected by our wedding events

TEAM DEVELOPMENT

  • Attends weekly Operations meetings and maintain solid relationships with the Catering team
  • Instructs team on specific details leading to successful events for the client
  • Takes initiative to communicate appropriately in written and verbal form

Other duties as assigned - note: this individual will be responsible to partner with our Operations team by helping execute deliveries & events (this will include additional gratuity)

Required Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or higher required.
  • One to six months related experience is required, but 1 year of experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of Catering menus and City Barbeque Culture (Purpose/ Mission/ Values/ Guiding Behaviors)
  • Knowledge of local venues, vendors, and industry standards; solid knowledge of local area is essential
  • Experience with sales/negotiation/closing process
  • Excellent communication skills, both internally and externally
  • Polished and professional demeanor and presentation skills, with great attention to detail
  • Ability to react immediately in a very fast-paced and exciting, dynamic environment
  • Proactive, with the ability to remain calm under pressure and to anticipate and support changes
  • Able to communicate concisely, completely, and accurately in verbal and written communication
  • Talented and passionate knowledge of food in restaurant & Catering industry
  • Client-focused with excellent customer service

  • Strong computer skills, including Word and Excel
